ALERT: Fire Marshals are adding this equipment to their annual inspection at facilities.

Shear Valve (Impact Valve, Crash Valve, Emergeny Shutoff Valve) are a mechanical device installed at the base of a dispenser when the fuel supply piping operates under pressure. The Valve is designed to automatically shut off the flow of fuel to the dispenser in the event of a fire or severe impact.

PS&C standard operating test procedures ensure that shear valves are:

- Properly Anchored
- Properly Installed (per manufacturer’s specifications)
- Anchoring System Test - Product Arm is free to move and shut properly
- Shear Valve Trip Test - Product will not flow through when properly closed
